This is one of the most surrealistic recordings I have ever heard, and my all-time favourite from Toyah.

Wild, weird & truly enjoyable. (P.S. for the Frippists - his vocals are on this one)

Just to reinforce other people's opinions, I'd like to mention that this album is really odd. A most bizarre recording.

Yes, it is an odd album but I can say that Toyah must have been listening to a lot of Danielle Dax around this time. There are some immediately striking songs on this CD and some that will need to grow. Seeing that I just got this CD today I guess only time will tell but I will say that this far from comercial album is one that Toyah should be very proud of. Scott Davies 5/30/97

This one is Toyah's best album ever. Powerful and breathtaking, "Prostitute" reveals Toyah's gothic/industrial side at it's best.

Gothic? I'm sure many gothic bands would cry of fear when listening to this masterpiece. With two exceptions: Siouxsie and Peter Murphy would love it.

When I first heard it, I was shocked, because I expected the usual rock sound. But once I got used to the rough and mostly unpolished sound I discovered that the songs are brilliant. Obsession is an outstanding track with lyrics that Toyah deserves an extra award for. Especially the lyrical strength of the entire album makes it a must. So to all those who feel uneasy with the album, give it an even break to realise its brilliance. Maybe this one was a wrong career move but reveals Toyah's independence as to her own choices and ideas.

Call me old fashioned but I like songs and tunes. I'm going to give this another listen but for me this album confirmed that the magic had gone. There were one or two memorable moments but I found the music very grey, unfinished and uninspiring, not up to the usual standard. 'Falling To Earth' is a rare highpoint.

This is my fave Toyah album scince the blue meaning. very different from her other stuff. It was nice to hear her doing something artistic rather then just trying to apeal to the masses.. nice one Toyah!

With this cd, toyah reached the highest point in her career. Better seems impossible. 10/10

Along with ophelia this is my favourite toyah album,I always thought it was more inspired by kate bush than daneille dax. The madness of it all is so refreshing, I never tire it, and could listen to ghost in the universe forever

I just got this CD today, the final piece in my Toyah collection. I can only confirm all the positive feedback this album has received....amazing! It seems to me to be almost like a reincarnation of Toyah's earlier style, I can't help but think of Nine Inch Nails when I hear certain tracks....mixed with Kate Bush?? Wonderfully weird, a true 'Toyah album'

Amazing conceptual vocalistic stuff...if you are a pedestrian thinker do not touch this album.

I'M sorry but this album is crap. I think toyah lost her way sometime after Love is the law.

I must agree with Sabrina on this point! Despite being a ''die hard'' Toyah fan this album does nothing for me. Although it sits on the shelf I must admit - it gathers dust...01/03/00

I admire Toyah for her change in direction with this album, very different to her previous work (particulary its predecessor, Desire (1987) which is more in-line with Minx (1985)) and definitely not main stream to the music of 1988. To anyone who feels unsure about this album, give it another go (and read the lyrics) it is quite fascinating. My personal favourites are Vale of Evesham, Ghosts in the Universe, Falling to Earth and Restless. (p)by wj jan 2001
