Quite simply brilliant.

As soon as I can find this one I'll state my opinion. Can anyone help me locate a copy??? Scott Davies 5/30/97
E-MAIL: cbh@tnx.djmarkets.co.uk
It's only available (at present) on LP and cassette, and then most probably only second-hand. If you haven't heard it, I'm quite happy to submit your opinion by proxy: "it's fantastic".

This is a great album. Though it has a bit less of a Gothic sound than previous releases it still retains a style and class all it's own. Again, the singles are the least interesting songs but there not terrible. They pale in comparison to the gorgeous melodic hooks of "Dreamscape" and "Time is ours". The leftover Gothic sound is present in the wonderfully bizarre "I explode" and "Rebel of love". Why this album started Toyah's commercial downfall I'll never know but it's definitely one of her top 3 best albums. Scott Davies 8/22/97

This was the first Toyah album I ever bought, I got it in 1995 on vinyl from a second hand record shop and I thought it was absolutely brilliant, this began my discent into Toyah Mania. I have since acquired only a few of her albums all on vinyl, although would love to have copies of all her work, I love this woman. I have the following: Sheep Farming in Barnet, Anthem, Minx, Toyah! Toyah! Toyah!, Warrior Rock, The Blue Meanings, Phoenix (or: DREAMCHILD as it is also known), The Best of Toyah, The VERY best of Toyah and Love Is The Law. My two favourite Toyah appearances are in Derek Jarman's JUBILEE and in THE EBONY TOWER WITH L. Olivier. TOYAH IS MY GODDESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 'last' Toyah album featuring the usual musicians that had served her so well (though not on all the tracks). Better than most of the more recent Toyah albums.

This is a fascinating album. Despite being milder than the earlier offerings and despite the distinct keyboard sound it provides a whole variety of sounds ranging from aggressive tracks like 'I Explode' and 'Rebel Run' to wonderful ballads like 'Martian Cowboy' and 'The Vow', from great pop songs like 'Dreamscape' and 'Time Is Ours' to Toyah-typical truly original stuff like 'Rebel Of Love' and 'Love Is The Law'. Hello Connoisseur Collections, we're waiting for the CD reissue!

Love is the Law certainly deserves the right to be put on CD. It really is my personal Toyah favourite. Neil Hooley. Derby.

I finally found this album on vinyl after looking literally for years! True, you can get some of the cuts on a Best of Toyah (if you're willing to go to England to pick it up); but having the vinyl is great. I like this album, especially the slightly wan and sad Martian Cowboy. But to me, the real Toyah is back on Sheepfarming and Blue Meaning.

Why isnt this album on CD. It should be. I love this album to death. It takes me somewhere every time I play it.

The reason i like toyah so much is because of her diversity, this is so different to the previous toyah studio album (changeling)and is equally as spectacular, time is ours has to be the best track, along with broken diamonds and dreamscape. Yhe only track on this album I can do without is remember, should've been replaced with baptised in fire.

Thank god there are those out there who agree with me about Love Is The Law, it is a truly stunning album and I've written several times to the Connoisseur Collection with suggestions for releasing it on CD so hopefully they'll take some notice. When I originally brought it on it's release in '83 I adored it and still feel the same about my woefully worn copy some 17 years later. 'I Explode' is a top track, and to go from that to 'The Vow' in one album takes some doing. I always thought 'Martian Cowboy' was one of the best things that the band (Toyah/Joel/Phil/Simon) ever wrote together. If ever we do get a CD with bonus tracks I hope that 'Baptised With Fire' and 'Laughing With The Fools' can be included, two songs that have never seen light of day on an album but both deserving a wider audience.

I managed to get this album thru my sister, who won it, then decided she didn't like...so some 17 years, I still have it...unfortunately it's scratched, but luckily I taped it all those years ago...I too am waiting for it to come out on cd, and would like to get some of her other stuff as well...it's just something very different to a lot of the same old boring stuff everyone comes out with...

I road my skateboard to Hollywood from my house (20 Miles) to get this record upon its' release and have bought several copies since to make sure i'll always have a perfect one. Why it isn't on CD is a real mystery.

Over the years I''ve lost many of my vinyl collections what with moving across continents and around the world. The two I missed most were this album and "The changling". At least the changling has been re-released, now what about Love is the Law? In the meantime, if anyone can get me a copy of the tracks, I''d gladly pay the royalties. Mike.
