Comments for Toyah, Looking Back

This album doesn't feature Friday Forever. The musicians on this album are the ones Toyah currently tours with. Friday Forever feature on Take The Leap.

This is a collection of unpolished re-recordings of some of Toyah's early stuff. Much to my surprise most of these are quite good. "Obsolete" "Angel and me" and "Danced" are done great while "Good morning universe" actually seems to be improved. The only screw up is "Be proud, be loud be heard" which is great in it's original form but really stinks here. This collection proves that Toyah can still rock in the shadow of more mellow, recent efforts. Scott Davies 5/30/97

Toyah should re-record or remix her older tracks with Trent Reznor, Triky and Steve severin. I'm sure it would sound fab...

One of the missing albums in Finland. There has been some other releases by Tring International, but this is not one of them. I can't comment on this album anything because I haven't heard it, but I am very much interested to have this album! I already heard Toyah way back in '81 when I bought Anthem and rated it to be the best album of alltime. Still after over 15 years I still think it is THE ALBUM.

A disappointing album. Everything sounds so halfhearted and neat. The guitar sound is horrible and the versions of Be Proud, Ieya and Thunder In The Mountains are completely spoilt. The album lacks the power of the originals. The versions on Take The Leap! are far better, the versions of Waiting/Ieya/Our Movie are brilliant, although again Thunder In The Mountain is rather dispensable. The good thing about this album is Desire, because it's rougher than the 87 studio version.

This is the most disapointing Toyah album EVER MADE! It sound like some crap pub band doing really bad covers of some really good songs. There is only so long you can live in the past doing the same old stuff to try and please the fans..but at the end of the day.. The originals were amazing songs so why Toyah insists on rerecording them on a obviously very low budget is beyond me. I HATE this album!

It was a crap pub band! Sadly, good musicians don't come cheap but there's a million like these all waiting for a chance to record with 'the stars' when the 'time is right'. Not a patch on the original versions. What a waste of time.

Sorry - I gave you the wrong impression here with my above comment. Many apologies.
