Comments for Van Halen, Fair Warning

This is Eddie's most brilliant and inspired work (although I love *ALL* Van Halen stuff). If I were to be allowed only 1 CD of my whole collection (of all artists) this would be the one. The pure feeling of the songs and his soloing is awe inspiring. I've been listening to it for..what..15 years now and I will never get tired of it. Profuse thanks to Eddie, for his gift of music to us all. - William

"Unchained" is one of VH's alltime greatest and "Beautiful Girls" fits Diamond Dave perfectly.

"See, a gun is real easy, in this desparate part of town, turns you from hunted into hunter, go and hunt somebody down!...Lord!... SOmebody said 'Fair Warnind', Lord strike that poor boy down!"- The most BADDASS lyric Dave ever came up with. Too bad he too tripped out nowadays to "hunt down" his own penis!!! This album is RAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A dark album highlighted by the vicious tune: "Mean Street."

It Rocks! to the moron who mentioned "beautiful girls" in the review for FAIR WARNING should get a fcking clue as to what is on the album. Edward: "thank you" check out the solo on the live whithout a net" video.

eddie's solo before mean streets is just downright amazing. After the first time i heard it, i couldn't listen to any other guitarist in the same way as i did eddie. siners swing kid.

This is a horrible album, saved by only 3 songs. This is Mean Streets, Head About it Later, and So This Is Love? The whole thing is mean and dark. On it is the typical rock n roll glorification of pornography, rebellion, adultery and other such things. Mean Streets is about a living in rough neighbourhoods. It is about the only good song on there. The rest should be shunned by any decent people. Sunday Afternoon in the Park is a demonic sounding instermental straigh from the pits of hell. On the next song, (it cuts right into it) is a song promoting adultery. All these evil themes on just ONE album! This is Van Halen at its worst ... they have quite a few evil songs, but basically you almost have to throw this whole thing out. There is some bad language too ... making this a prime example why Rock N Roll at its worst is very bad.

Fair Warning revaels the dark side of Van Halen. Dave's lyrical skilss are far from some of a rookie in the music biz. The album's best song opens with my favorite song Mean Street which opens with a guitar solo that some only dream of playing. This album rocks I give it a TEN

mean street is our street~~~~

Fair Warning, a Brilliant display of creativity. Mean streets is a perfect example. Just listen how Eds use of simple chords are meshed into Daves lyrical concepts. I won't say that fair warning is my favorite VH album but I will say this; if you like big in your face sounds this album is the perfect starting point. Also Here about it later, listen to the intro a simple A- minor chord but how perfeclty executed by Ed. And of course Unchained the climactic explosion, Ed rips through the intro with a sub sonic low E to accent his dark thoughts.

"Demonic intro straight from the pits of hell"??? That's why it rocks!!! Every song on here is down & dirty, especially the most well known "mean Street" and "Unchained". This is one of VH's best - proof as to why nobody could touch them in their heyday.

Depths of hell??????? Clear example of Rocks worst?????? What the hell kinda drugs are you on?? I can think of some FAR FAR more evil stuff than VH...Danzig,SOD,Slayer,King Diamond...just to name a few.....VH albums are like bubblegum pop in comparison(no insult intended) Fair Warning absolutely ROCKS!!! it has some of my favorite songs ever done....Well worth having in anyones CD collection... Unfortunately..it is the Last of the TRUE VH albums.......I love VH..have ALWAYS loved em.....but the later stuff was no comparison to the early VH!
Van Halen`s darkest album. The rocker UNCHAINED will knockyour socks off!

One thing stands out about this disk - the bass! I think it's a great release, and the best sounding or recorded VH disk before 1984. Great musicianship all around on this one!
