Comments for Vaughan, Stevie Ray and Double Trouble, The Sky Is Crying

An interesting note about "Empty Arms" on this album is that Stevie Ray showed his musical versatility by playing drums on the track. Tommy Shannon and SRV went into the studio early one day and they laid down the drums and bass tracks. Then SRV went on to do the guitar and vocals. This more uptempo beat did not make the album (Soul to Soul) but rather a much more bluesy, slow version.

Check out "Boot Hill"" on this album....this track was one of the few times that SRV was captured playing slide on a released track.

All SRV albums should be rated a 11 on the scale of 1 to 10. It is very sad that he was taken from us in the zenith of his career. I hope that someday he will get the aclcolades that he deserves from the general music public and not just those of use who are fans of his music or those critics who recognized the supreme talent that Stevie had. I feel that SRV was probably one of the greatest blues musicans to ever pickup the guitar and play.
