Comments for Waits, Tom, Rain Dogs

The album that persuaded me Waits is a genius. Swordfish Trombone intrigued. Rain Dogs convinced. Why can't I buy his music in Indonesia? His use of steel percussion is not unlike Indonesian gamelan. One more quesation: his song about Waltzing Matilda - what's the AUstralian connection happening there?

Genius. There`s not much more to say.

I bought this album because it was ranked as one of the top 100 albums of the 80''s in Rolling Stone. Upon first listen, my initial reaction was one of shock. I couldn''t believe I had spent money on it. Strangely, I started playing it again right away. I listened to it all the way through a second time and have been a diehard Waits fan ever since. It just took me a little while to understand how beautifully weird this album is. I won''t say that this is easy listening or that it is for everyone, but those that give it more than one chance will be rewarded.
