Comments for Wedding Present, Hit Parade 1

E-MAIL: jn36@ndrew.cmu.edu
First, I attributed "Don't Cry No Tears" to Matthew Sweet; it's originally a NEIL YOUNG song. Sorry. Also, the Twin Peaks song was performed by Julee Cruise, to those who care. "Think that it might" is by Altered Images, "Let's Make Some Plans" is by Close Monsters. Hit Parade 2 DOES exist, I now have confirmation. Some strange, rare item called Hit Parade 3 is out, but isn't strictly part of the same series.

The originals are very good, especially "Come Play with Me", and the cover of the Close Lobsters "Let''s make some plans" is great, but most of the covers are pretty dull.
In 1992, the WP released a 7-inch a month with an original A-side and a cover B-side. This compiles the first 6, I`m not sure if "Hit Parade 2" ever came out with the rest (including a cover of "Shaft"!). The WP shows great taste and flair in covers, even making theMonkees sound coooool! Several top-notch songs in the originals.
