Comments for Weezer, Pinkerton

The cd case has a Japanese theme, corresponding with the song "Across the Sea." Note that there is a "hidden" treasure map underneath the black plastic piece which holds the cd itself. It has such features as the "Sharpless Mountains." This cd seems to display more complexity than the last, but it lacks a common thread and tends to have sexual references, unlike the "blue album." Also unlike the first album, the recording is not as clear with regard to vocals, which I think is a minus. But there are some great songs on here, most notably "Across the Sea." Few bands other than this one, maybe with the exception of Rancid or Everclear, can tell a story or express emotion so well.
