Comments for Who, The, The Who Sell Out

A crackingly good Pop-Art album with, of course, supreme rough Mod edges that make the whole package rank alongside the likes of the Beatles` Sgt.Pepper (from the same year -1967, -the height of magical psychedelic music and thought). From the start of the album`s backwards guitars and hornsin "Armenia City In The Sky", to the crushing fade of "Rael"and the "Track Records" noise of the endless playout groove(on the original record), this whole concept album demonstrtates commercialism to a blinding extreme. It is littered with advertisements, in-jokes, some nostalgia, dark humour, and some frighteningly amazing psychedelic-rocksongs, such as "I Can See For Miles" (An all time No. 1.track, which will be remembered long after many songs of thesame period, and indeed now, have been forgotten). This record can also been seen as a tribute to the zanyPirate-Radio Stations (Caroline and London) which wereforced to close in the same year, and which avidly playedmusic such as that of The Who`s, in between jingles! If you`ve heard the single "Pictures Of Lily" (1967), thenyou ain`t heard nothin` yet. Violent songs sung sweetly, andsweet songs sung violently. This album is a must for anyoneand everyone, WHO likes great music!
