Comments for Wire, Chairs Missing

Cd release includes three extra tracks. This is a great album, hugely influential on subsequent alternative rock bands like Gang of Four, Au Pairs, Mission of Burma, etc. Stark, precise, often beautiful; off-kilter yet compelling melody and harmony cut with dissonance and hung on perfect formal pop-song skeletons. Every song is a gem.

This is an exceptional record. However, it's a bit jarring and disjointed. I would say 75% of the material is stunning and a bit is dross. Definitely an album worth hearing and quite an acheivement.

no dross here,- unless you count the bonus tracks on the CD version which really shoulda been left off. The drums are amazing, heavy skeletal drops, and the songs are terrifyingly precise little short-short stories. This is my favorite all in all...
