Comments for Wire, The Ideal Copy

Their 1987 comeback after a long period of variable-quality solo output & soul-searching in India (Colin Newman), this is wonderful, sophisticated contemporary music that you can sing in the bath if you wish. I generally find late-period Wire to be just as good as their classic 70's stuff.

A Masterpiece! Wire has never sounded so sophisticated. If you´ve never heard Wire, this is the album to start with.

Wire got a lot of stick for their 80s output which is rich considering it is actually quite similar to the EMI LPs if they were shoved into a synth. Avoid the tape and vinyl versions of this LP as they only contain the first eight tracks which are generally pretty good. The CD adds extra value by bundling all the B-Sides of the singles and the Snakedrill EP which, to my mind, is better than Ideal Copy itself. However, "Ahead" is the stand-out track - powerful and catchy.
Compact Disc Version Includes Snakedrill Mini-Album And 3 Additional Live Tracks
