Comments for Yes, Symphonic Music of Yes

Though the version of "Owner of a Lonely Heart" should never have been recorded, there are some very good moments on this disc, including a killer version of "Roundabout".

Clumsy orchestral arrangements of Yes songs that do not do justice to the original compositions. Yes music as elevator music. The melodies get lost in the sluggishness of the playing. For better evidence of "Yes as Symphonic Rock Music", you can't beat the original releases. The original versions (by Yes) were light, airy with a lot of implied "space", but the symphonic versions here are considerably more dense, without (for the most part) Anderson's voice to guide the song through the muck.

This is total crap. A shame for every Yes fan, not to mention the musicians who were involved in this. The only good thing is the Roger Dean cover. Dear Jon, if you want to make money without creating new Yes music, release some live CD's from different Yes tours and not this elevator music shit.

The thing that sticks out foremost about this album is the way the bass line is chopped to hell in Starship Trooper instead of flowing like the original. It is interesting at best for it''s subject matter. But it is not Yes.
Elevator Music.
