Comments for Yes, 90125

This is an album they start rottened. They shouldn't be doing this because from this one they started to spoil their fames and glories built up for long period of time. Complete Shit! I was almost throwing myself up.

Although this album was a great departure from the music Yes created during the 70's, it yet demonstrated that the band had the will and vision to move onward and upward, in the process gaining new fans (and perhaps losing some older ones) in the process. More than anything else, 90125 brought progressive music into a more mainstream light, and hinted at the band's continued musical approach under the songwriting leadership of multi-instrumentalist Trevor Rabin.

This is by far, one of their better albums. Although there wil will always be those with certain limitations that prevent them from seeing this. (or hearing, as the case may be)

A very successful album, containing several hits, that induced many young listeners to discover their past career and unavoidably become Yes fans...But the comparison with their 70's albums is not feasible. The music, the style of the songs are no more the same....They're simply another group that decides to call itself Yes again. And in fact they are NOT my preferred version of YES, safe the value of the musicians. GL

This album has a certain "mood" to it that catches you ( at least I get carried away ). I agree that the style of the songs is totally different from their earlier work, but this doesn't affect my impression of it. The album contains some great songs and the tracks have a very consistent style.

"90 125" was my first YES album & I still like it best. Although I have heard perhaps several hundred times, I happen to find new overdubs on it which I never heard before - obviously a sign of the unique quality of the album. But - that's true - it is not a typical YES but a typical TREVOR HORN-produced album. It was probably the first time that he used the sampling technique in that way, before he continued with the ART OF NOISE, PROPAGANDA, GRACE JONES & FRANKIE GOES TO HOLLYWOOD.

When I went to see them in concert right after the release of 90125, I was amazed at the number of youthful (in comparison) people at the concert. It was nice to see another generation being made aware of what I believe to be "serious" music. Not only that but it was a great concert for my "aged" ears. They may have changed their style, but they are still putting out some great music.

INSPIRATION is what "YES" is all about, the great unique rock and roll is a bonus and one of the manifestations of that inspiration. Like "Yes", my primary source of inspiration is the GREAT SPIRIT potentially inside of all of us. Among my finest influences in reaching some of that spiritual potential have been the great rock & roll group "Yes", and the spiritually inspiring books written by "KEN CAREY". How do you rate inspiration, "Yes" & "Ken Carey" get 10's on my subjective chart. -Ed McConnell

Sounds like heavy metal to me. Most of the songs are pretty good - catchy - that's a strength to the album but the sound is certainly bombastic. They were great in concert on this tour, though - the older material sounded fantastic!

Great!!! For me the second best Yes album of all time. Only "Close To The Edge" beats it. It's hard to pick a single song, because they all are so good. My favourite is "Changes", the best of all YesWest songs. It's full of anger and raw energy and yet so beautiful. I don't have to say much about "Owner Of A Lonely Heart".Ingenious!!! And "Our Song", "It Can Happen", "City Of Love" and "Hearts". This is NOT standard arena rock. I never heard anything remotely sounding like 90125. Trevor Horn produced one of the best sounding records in rock history. And no, I don't miss Steve Howe, although I prefer him to Trevor Rabin. Rabin's guitar style and vocals are just perfect for this album.

90125 brought Yes into the pop spotlight with "Owner Of A Lonely Heart" and perhaps was the album that started dividing Yes fans into "Troopers" "Generators" ad nauseum. Who cares? 90125 is great music. Yes needed a fresh blood infusion and Trevor Rabin was exactly that. It is sad that Yes fans must subdivide themselves into almost "racial" categories over music. Yes is, and always has been, changing. It always shall, hopefully forever and ever, Amen.

This seems to be a very good comercial album. They still have their specific soundm, but unfortunately they lost the complexity and power of the musical phrase. A good album, .. but strictly comercial.

Yes came back together here (Jon, Chris, and Alan, with new kid Trevor Rabin, and old kid Tony Kaye). Personally, i do not think Trevor''s guitar skill is anywhere near Steve''s (completely different styles as well), but Trevor can write catchy contemporary pop-rock tunes, which is probably why most of the die-hard 70s Yes fans cannot stand the 80s Yes band. There is virtually no trace of the 70s Yes here, and all that''s left is pleasant prog-ish pop rock (eg. Rush). Although "Leave It" is an incredibly annoying waste.
