Comments for Young, Neil, Neil Young

While overshadowed for many years by the popularity of his second album "Everybody Knows This is Nowhere", Neil's self-titled debut solo album stands alone as a masterpiece. Favorite tracks: 4) I've Been Waiting For You, 5) The Old Laughing Lady.

Can somebody tell me the personnel playing on Neil Young's first record? I've been wondering since 1969. mark

"Overdub City" is what NY called this album. It remains one of his favorites though, and one of mine too. "Here We Are In The Years" is as good as any song Young's ever written. This one is also a very interesting and unique album because Neil never puts instrumental songs on his albums - but this record has two of them. Country with an acid wink. It's great.

This materpiece contains tow of my favorite Neil Young songs - Here We Are In The Years and Old Laughing Lady. Although Neil has expressed a slight embarrassment to the dubbing used, I can't help but think he is very proud of this record. Often overlooked by many, but worn out by me ! Paul

it's a wonderful album. the aching sadness of 'old laughing lady'. the desperation of 'i've been waiting for you'. life before reaching the summit of sugar mountain.

Bought this back in the acid daze when it came out. You could feel this music inside you. a natural progression from Buffalo Springfield to Everybody Knows. If he was embarassed about overdub, you wouldn't know it from some of his previous work. Here you could see the ground work for this long and varied career. Tender ballads, rockers, Dylan-esque stories. Who knew his career would be so cutting edge and true to folk at the same time. He introduced us to DEVO, had trouble with George Lucas over "Road-eyes" and hung around long enough to become Grampa Grunge. Long may you run.

Often overlooked and very underated album.
Neilıs first and last ³high production² album. Featuringnumerous overdubs but excellent material, this album is anexcellent prelude to his later collaberations with Crazy Horse. The high point of the album is surely ³Last Trip To Tulsa,² anepic that clocks in at 9:25.
