Neil Young at his very best ! Great albums endure the test of time, and this one has weathered quite well.

This album really has it all, from the straight-out rock of "Cinnamon Girl" to the intense and bizarre "Down by the River" to the mournful and poetic "Round and Round (It won't be long)."

This album really has it all, from the straight-out rock of "Cinnamon Girl" to the intense and bizarre "Down by the River" to the mournful and poetic "Round and Round (It won't be long)." This is the album that put Neil on the map as a solo artist, and it has signifigance as Crazy Horse's first contribution as well as an introduction to the 10-minute extended guitar solos that Neil has used through his career. My favorite song on the album is "Everybody Knows This is Nowhere" because it's so close to home with me: "Gotta get away from the day to day, runnin' around everybody knows this is nowhere."

One of the best rock albums of all time. Period.

This album makes me wish I was a bit older to experience first hand when it came out and potentially see him perform the songs. Wanted: One time machine.

His best album and close to being the best contemporary music album of all time.

A great album that saw Neil Young with Crazy Horse for the first time, with great songs such as Down By The River and Cowgirl In The Sand, along with the commercially successful Cinnamon Girl. Vocals, guitar playing, and lyrics are very solid, and one of his best albums ever.

Well, if this isn't Neil Young's best album, it's definately the second best. No question. The only NYalbum with Crazy Horse's original guitar player Danny Whitten. This is the ORIGINAL Neil Young & Crazy Horse. They've got the songs, the sounds, the lyrics - everything. Even the songs that nobody ever talks about - (Round & Round, It Won't Be Long) are very good and very intense. Incredible record from an unbelievable band.

Does the hair on your neck stand up during the start of Down By The River ? With the exception of the decade collection, this is his best. I can see why Neil missed Danny Whitten. Listen closely to the exchanges between the two. Stephen couldn't hold Danny Whitten guitar strap. Danny and Neil were musical sole mates. Too bad about the needle and the damage done.

I bought this album for my mother. We listened to it together and then I stole it. Neil is sacred.

Very defining of NY & CH style. The best NY & CH along with every other NY & CH track recorded. Great classic songs. I think the song "Everybody knows this is nowhere" is very underated and the style of this great song was used /borrowed/ copied by the Eagles.
