Comments for Young, Neil, Decade

This is definitely Neil's finest achievement to date. It contains all the greatest songs from the early days with The Buffalo Springfield up to Long May You Run with Stephen Stills. This really sums up what was so great about Young's music from this period, almost all of my favorite songs from era are on Decade. Decade is also a great way to hear the best tunes from his lesser-known albums like American Stars 'n' Bars or On The Beach.

Down by the River is my favorite song. This album is great.

One of the few best-ofs that lives up to that name, I don't believe there are any clunkers on here at all. Neil goes from the heavy rockers like "Cinnamon Girl" to the mystical tracks like "After the Gold Rush" with incredible ease. LLNY.

This is the album that truly made me a Neil fan. 'Down by the River' STILL gives me chills! (as well as 'Old Man' and 'Heart of Gold'). Oddly enough, 'Campaigner' is touching in a weird way. I can't wait for Neil's next "best of"!

A good album for distant fans of Neil Young to have, with all the hits on it,though any hardcore fan will tell you that the songs not on any other albums are great as well, and worth buying it for that reason. A great compilation with almost every great song he did up to that time, and would be liked by any big or little Neil Young fan.

Well it may be hard to believe but I brought this triple album many moons ago and I still love it.

It is very unfair to comment on this record in the same manner as Harvest, Unplugged, etc. This is the signle greatest complilation of one man's music that I have seen. How many performers wish they had this quality of work in their first 10 years. I loaned this CD to a work friend who questioned me about Sugar Mountain. Well he won't return it. Sugar Mountain is the single best unreleased song in the history of Rock and Roll. I remember Sugar Mountain held the #1 spot (in front of Stairway To Heaven) at KLOS radio in Los Angeles for several years during their Firecracker 500 over the 4th of July weekend.

In Australia, we heard Harvest first and then other albums became available like ATGR. When Decade was released it was like finding gold to realise how much quality pre Harvest NY material was available. I had not heard of Buffalo Springfield, CSNY or Crazy Horse. Decade is a quality compilation album as prevoiusly suggested opens up a wealth of albums that are worth obtaining for the songs not on Decade.

Without doubt the best compilation of Neil Young''s early tunes. From one of his first studio sessions with "Burned" to mellow country-style "Old Man" from the Harvest album. Pure listening pleasure!! Neil Young never rust!!!

This is the greatest box set ever (together with Bob Dylan`s Bootleg Series Volume 1-3(rare and unrealesed) 1961-1991). Songs like Suger Mountain, Cowgirl In The Sand, Broken Arrow, Tonight`s The Night, Down By The River, Love Is A Rose, Star Of Betlehem, Cortez The Killer and the incredible Deep Forbidden Lake, are some of my favourites. This is an incredible collection!!!!!!!
A Great compiliation that really sums up Neil Young`s early years.
