John Zorn, Tim Berne (both on alto saxophone), Mark Dresser(bass), Joey Baron and Michael Vatcher (both on drums) reworkedseventeen of Ornette Coleman`s tunes. Although many said thisis Zorn`s experiment with fusing hardcore punk with free jazz,it can be better described that Zorn is fusing the spirits of thetwo genres along with his signatures to reinterpret the tunes. Sure it`s chaotic as hell, but don`t expect Zorn`s screaming sax linesover Napalm Death`s backing. Or even compare it to Painkiller orNaked City. But anyway, Spy Vs. Spy proved that Zorn`s the master (or even the guru) of renegade jazz-noise.
