Comments for Quicksilver Messenger Service, Happy Trails

E-MAIL: stuart@apollo.hp.com
The "Who Do You Love" suite (tracks 1-6) and "Mona" (track 7) [both Bo Diddley tunes] are live at the original Fillmore Auditorium in SF in '67 (there are bootlegs of the same tunes from other concerts from this same time). Tracks 8-10 are primarily, if not entirely, studio tracks, somewhat in the same spirit as the tracks on QMS's debut album. The personnel throughout is: Gary Duncan on lead vocal & guitar, the late John Cippollina on guitar, David Freiburg on bass, backing vocal, & a little violin, and Greg Elmore on drums. This is one of the best albums from the late 60s.

The absolutely most fabulous guitar work I''ve ever heard. The first time I put on this album it blew my mind. The full-length none single version of "Who Do You Love" is one of the great works of improv rock, certainly rivaling anything the Dead ever did. A must for all lover''s of the psychedelic blues scene. William Kaplowitz
The quintessential jam album from the quintessential SanFrancisco jam band; Quicksilver Messenger Service playsacid rock the way it ought to be. Some people say thisstuff hasn`t aged well, but I think it gets better withevery year that passes. Freak music with a heckuva lotmore fire and grace than the 90`s HORDE bands like Blues Traveller and Dave Matthews. Plus you can get this stuff cheap!Get the originals! Pick up "Happy Trails" then tell me: ....Who do you love?
