Comments for Royal Court Of China, Geared and Primed

A good rock and roll album. Similar to debut, but a little heavier. Is there a third record, or are they no more?

Is that John Moore on lead vocals? I just picked up the "Lost Angels" soundtrack and this band has a song on it ... "Love Long Gone", I believe. Thanks for any info. Shawn L.
Royal Court of China broke up long ago. The lead vocals on Geared and Primed (and the other albums) are Joe Blanton, who now goes by JT Blanton and is in the country music biz in Nashville. The original RCC line up reformed briefly after the band lost their A&M contract, but then split for good. The only other band member I know the whereabouts is Drew Cornutt, who lives in Georgia and doesn't play anymore that I'm aware of.
I highly recommend this album, but it is a little harderedged than Court`s first album.
Joe Blanton is not performing country music in Nashville. He has a new rock and roll band called Purple Vidalia, which is based in Nashville, although Blanton currently resides in Florida.
Purple Vidalia also includes Robert Logue on bass, an original member of The Royal Court of China who appeared on the band's first two records, but not on Geared and Primed.

Thanks for your kind words. That album was very special to me. I sill hum some of the songs on occasions. Joe wrote some really killer tunes for that one. I heard Joe's country thing he did back in '96. I thought it was great too. Why it didn't get bigger, I can only speculate. I would be interested to hear Purple Vidalia. Love long Gone was the first song I did with Joe and Chris. It was a couple of fragments on a crude demo that Joe played for me. I brought it together with the bass line and Joe wrote the bridge on the spot. The demo we did of it in early '88 was essentially unchanged on the recorded version except I used a REAL fretless bass as opposed to the pawn shop bass I yanked the frets off of. Yes, I live in Atlanta, a computer geek who still plays but strickly for fun.

This is Joe(singer/guitarist) for RCC. The original lineup recorded 6 songs before disbanding...again. including a version of Santa Claus is Back in Town with the original Elvis band. If anyone is interested I'd be happy to burn a few copies for the curious. I'd also like to hear from any past fans or members.

I remember seeing that Christmas song on one of the CD comps that country radio stations are serviced with every month. I thought, "There's still hope for the band!" I saw Royal Court of China in Savannah, Georgia, in 1990 or so. I can't recall the club's name because that space changed hands so much, but I'm betting it was Congress Street Station. I believe Jeff Mays had just joined the group. Long story short: We got our asses kicked that night. Love to hear more from you, Joe.
