Comments for Nixons, Foma

Kay, so I was just sittin' on my bed groovin' to the sounds commin' out of my radio...an alternative rock and classic rock station that only plays the best of the best.. so right when I am about to go get a snack in another room a new song comes on. I love the way it starts off...so I stay...I had no idea what the song is yet I could relate to it and love the lyrics. The voice on the radio was so beautiful and moving that after the song was over I call the radio place "What song was that?" I ask the man at Z106...the radio place here in Jackson, Mississippi. "That was a new group," he says, "the Nixsons...the song was 'Sister'." so I ask for the name of the CD. I just love it! Before I got the CD I taped the song off the radio. I just could not get too much of it...I always thought that it was j-e-l-l-o people could not get too much off and always had room for but then I saw that it was the Nixsons. I listened every night...requested it every time I could. I am just saying that I hope you guys keep it up...your stuff is great. And I would just like to tell ya thanks. Jill Fratkin

To correct the previous comment, The Nixons are not a Dallas/Fort Worth Band. They are from Norman, Oklahoma. They have been playing around here for years. I can remember hearing them play at the Sound Warehouse near campus for their "CD release party." They have really developed a great sound over the years. Look for other Oklahoma bands like The Flaming Lips (featured on the Batman Forever soundtrack), The Chainsaw Kittens, and Wakeland.

These guys blow!!! If I ever write a lyric as stupid as, "Sister I see you, dancing on the stage of memories," please put me out of my misery and shoot me.

These guys are indeed from Norman, OK, but they made it big from playing in and around Dallas, TX. They are one of the greatest bands of all-time! I have heard "Sister" probably close to 1,000 times (I'm serious) if not more. It is better and better every time I hear it. I have all three of their albums as well as some singles. One promotional cd single I have is "Sister", which includes the acoustic version. If you haven't heard it you are missing out big time! It is available as a import only, so go to the local music store and see if you can't get a hold of it. They are truely phenominal! I can't get enough of them. If you haven't seen them in concert it is a shame. They are really into the crowd and well, what can I say. They ROCK! These guys won't be denied and will make it to the top!

Okay, the person above me needs to stop making me jealous. The only CD I can find by the Nixons is Foma and that pisses me off. This album is too great and I NEED the other ones (Six, Halo, and Sister).

If you can't find the acoustic version of "Sister" on a promo cd single, and you can't find it on an Import then try picking up KZON COLLECTIBLES VOLUME FOUR. It is a charity album for KZON 101.5 in Phoenix, AZ! It has "Sister," "Just a Girl" (No Doubt), "Cumbersome" (7M3), "Banditos" (The Refreshments), "Lack of Water" (The Why Store), "Not Today" (Rust) ALL acoustic! Among others!

Dismal, dismal, dismal. All you Nixons lovers out there should go and get hold of a really good record, called "Ten", by Pearl Jam (a REAL alternative band, unlike all that Nirvana crap) and listen to a song called "Black" (which rocks). Then you''ll really know where "Sister" (which SUCKS) came from. Where do you get off plagiarizing PJ songs and putting lame lyrix like "HERE I AM AGAIN - OVERWHELMING MEMORIES" on them? Seems like the Nix should either team up with their namesake, STEVIE, Nicks, or go back to their grandpa''s house and play the hillbilly blues. Nuff said. Down with cloning! (of music, that is. Not sheep)
Another Dallas / Fort Worth area band to make it into the big leagues (ie Toadies, Tripping Daisy).
