Comments for Wright, Richard, Wet Dream

E-MAIL: neil.banman@reed.edu
Not for all tastes; nonetheless this is one of my favorite albums. Very mellow, a bit muzak-ish. 6 of the 10 tracks are instrumental, which is really a shame because his lyrics are outstanding in this album. They are very simple, especially compared with (former band-mate) Roger Waters', but they are stunningly effective. Some of his best songs, either with the Floyd or otherwise.

Wright''s songs are gentle and relaxed and his singing is as pleasant as on his early Pink Floyd songs (before he stopped singing with them). The other fine musicians, including Mel Collins on saxophones and Snowy White on guitar, get plenty of room on the instrumentals. Collins, in particular, dominates at least three of the instrumentals with some of his finest sax work. So often keyboard players'' solo albums turn out well: this one is a fine example by an underrated talent. New age rock fans should enjoy this. (Ian C. Thomas)
Recorded in France for tax reasons. Produced by Rick Wright.
