Comments for Edmunds, Dave, Closer to the Flame

E-MAIL: Wreckless_Eric@rocketmail.com
After a couple of dismal, synthesizer - laden albums with Electric Light Orchestra frontman Jeff Lynne, Dave Edmunds finally followed up "Riff Raff" (Columbia FC 39273, out of print, 1984) with this, a rock ''n'' roll classic. "Closer to the Flame" is a great rock ''n'' roll song. "Stockholm" is a great Mickey Jupp tune. "King of Love" is very reminiscent of fifties tunes. The Al Anderson standard "Never Take the Place of You" is wonderfully updated. It closes out with Billy Burnette''s excellent rocker, "Test of Love" and "Stay With Me Tonight", written by Edmunds. "Closer to the Flame" is a lost rock classic.
Produced by Dave EdmundsAs of August 28, 1997, "Closer to the Flame" is no longer available
