Comments for Edmunds, Dave, Information

Dave Edmunds took a temporary detour with "Information", considering he abandoned the roots - rock `n` roll of his previous albums such as "DE7", "Get It", "Twangin...`", "Tracks On Wax Four", "Repeat When Necessary", "Subtle as a Flying Mallet" and "Rockpile". Having not had a hit since 1970`s smash reworking of Smiley Lewis` "I Hear You Knocking", Edmunds hired Electric Light Orchestra frontman Jeff Lynne to produce him a hit single. It slightly paid off, "Slipping Away", the first single, climbed up the charts as far as number thirty - nine, then disappeared. Edmunds must have thought it paid off, because Lynne produced six - tenths of his next album, "Riff Raff" (1984, Columbia FC 39273, out of print). Finally, in 1990, he returned to his beloved rockabilly / rock `n` roll, with the classic "Closer to the Flame".
