Their style is unique simplybecause their music is so diverse - from pop to folk, funk to punk and all points in between.In Sept 1993, The Simpletons won the National University BandCompetition and the following year were voted best live touringband by the Universities of Australia.One highlight of the band is the lyrics. Cheyne Gelagin themain songwriter has already won two awards for his songs.The Simpletons have sold 4,000 CD’s independently in less than 2 years. In that time they’ve toured Australia 5 times and established a huge live following. It’s their live shows that blow people away and which they’ve built such a strong reputation on.Nice from their debut album ‘Matter’ received National airplay on Triple J for 5 months and at one stage reached the stations Top Ten Hitlist. Tall Poppies also received airplay across the country. Crash Out made it on to the Big Backyard Compilation sent overseas to over 200 college radio staions for airplay.In 1996 the band plans to release their 2nd album and look at playing overseas.
