Comments for Pere Ubu, Datapanik in the Year Zero

E-MAIL: mcfarsc@springfield.grumman.com
These tracks as well as some other decent ones were put out on the "Terminal Tower" LP in the late 80''s. It''s good music and was important to its time - that brooding, bizarre period that was the late 70''s - but not as good as Ubu''s first few LPs were. It''s a bit too depressed on the whole for my taste. The music sounds like an impressionistic, arty variation of Black Sabbath. The great star in these recordings to my ear is drummer Scott Krauss, with his Charlie-Watts styled kick and fractured post-Bruford drum beats.
Collection of early singles 1975-77. Essential if you think the USA can do better than Toto and Barry Manilow.
