Comments for Pere Ubu, Song of the Bailing ManE-MAIL: illusory@terracom.net Too odd for me, I'm afraid, and more Mayo Thompson. "The Long Walk Home" is a good tune, but on the rest of the album the band sound like a lounge act. Incidentally, making this thing spin at 45 rpm was an inspired decision on Ubu's part as SOTBM is easily their best sounding record.E-MAIL: Nervenet@aol.com For me, their first (maybe only) dud. Full of interesting ideas that don''t go far enough. I like parts of it when I''m in the mood, but the great thing about most of their other music is that I don''t have to be in the mood for it - it always draws me in. Much as I like Anton Fier, this isn''t the right context for him and the loss of both Krauss and Herman was crippling to the band. Their last album before taking a break until 1987, this hasa more `airy` feel than previous works, possibly due to the inclusion of Anton Fier and Mayo Thompson.Comments supplied by users do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Roadkill Consulting, Inc. |
