Comments for Charlie Hunter Trio, Bing, Bing, Bing!

The second release (the first on major label) by this jazz-funktrio. The trio sounded obbviously more mature and tigt as an unit.while Hunter techniques never cease to amaze, his playing is moresubdued this time with his attention concentrated more on his rhythm and bass playing. Dave Ellis (sax) let loose on many cuts with some cool blowing. More -acid-jazz sounding than before but cuts likeBullethead was pure and hardcore 70`s-cop-shows-soundtrack-funk.The "tribute" to Kurt Cobain (Come As You Are) may be the accessibletrack, but the whole disc was an amazing and chilling effort. Also check out T.J. Kirk, a side project of Charlie Hunter playingcompositions of Thelonious Monk, Roland Kirk and James Brown.
