Comments for Browne, Duncan, Streets of Fire

This is a cool, smooth package of pop songs with progressive elements (as on the title track which switches between 4/4 and 5/4). The four piece band is the same as on "The Wild Places": DB (vocals, guitars), Tony Hymas (Keyboards), John Giblin (Bass) and Simon Phillips (drums), with Dick Morris (alto sax on the sax drenched ballad "She`s Just A Fallen Angel"). It`s produced by DB. Overall, the songs bounce between a Chris Rhea like guitar and vocal style on some songs and a dreamy acoustic, slightly flamenco style on others; "(Restless) Child of Change" starts with a guitar sound akin to David Gilmour`s "Mihalis" but elsewhere these seem to be the two major styles. The lyrics are sometimes confronting, even misogynist (the songs are generally about prostitution). The Tennesee Williams touch this time is "A Streetcar Named Desire." A listenable, well constructed, interestingly produced album. (Ian C. Thomas)

I bought this album when it was first released, I found it to be one of the most lyrically and musically interesting pieces of work I'd heard in years. And even now, an album that is still very much worth playing.Thank you for all the information I was able to find about Duncan Browne via the internet.
