Comments for Duet Emmo, Or So It Seems

E-MAIL: scottmcf@erols.com
The songs are so dark; dark enough that I find this difficult to listen to. Joy Division-styled dark. This release I think finds Lewis & Gilbert coming out of their "Dome"-shaped shell and flirting with consistently listenable music - a good step, I think, though it''s not such an impressive result as later efforts. The only track which I would say stands out is the closer, which is a nice extended intense bouncing thing not unlike a cross between Wire & Depech Mode (which in a sense it is!).
Duet Emmo is a project by Daniel Miller of Mute Records and Bruce Gilbertand Graham Lewis of DOME (also of Wire). The name, Duet Emmo, is actuallyan anagram of the words DOME and Mute. This cd is a re-issue of their albumoriginally released in 1983 on Mute Records UK. It varies between icy, coldGerman electronics (ala Liaisons Dangereuses), laid back ambience, andquiet synthpop.---Pretty Good Stuff Here.
