Comments for Scientific Americans, Load And Go!

E-MAIL: gil@l0pht.com
Not mandatory for everyone perhaps, but if you are a connoisseur of weirdness, it''s crucial.
LOAD AND GO! is a combination studio/live cassette. The musicis made from a huge collection of synths and drum boxes withvocals and some guitar thrown in. It some pretty quirky stuff mixedwith some dub effects. There`s even a cover of "Ball Of Confusion OnHere".----Pretty Cool, but not mandatory.

I've always considered this cassette a little known jewel of the minimalist synth genre. When it comes down to it, the Scientific Americans had a sound that was very much their own (although I've always detected faint shades of The Residents and even very early PIL in their sound). With very little instrumentation they were able to create quite strange and ominous atmospheres without coming across as just another art noise band. I regret that they never made it further south than Washington D.C. on their tours because I would have loved to have seen them live. In a fan letter I begged them to come to North Carolina to play. I still have the reply to my letter sent by Sean Alias himself in February 1983 and typed on a Cobol coding form. Thank goodness this cassette is still available because it's an aural document of a band that never received the recognition that they truly deserved. If nothing else, they deserve to be remembered as one of the most original bands to come out of MA! Gary Carter - Reidsville, NC. July 2003.

one of the only documents from this very great band of the early 80's. The live shows were transendental, visionary, and fondly remembered.
