Comments for Yearwood, Trisha, Songbook: A Collection of Hits

E-MAIL: mthivier@bidmc.harvard.edu
If you close your eyes, you''d swear you were listening to Linda Ronstadt, circa 1975.
The definitive Trisha Collection -- all classics thoughtfully selected. Three previously unreleased cuts appear on this release, including the stirring "How Do I Live" from the CONAIR movie. Garth Brooks appears on two of these cuts -- "Like We Never Had a Broken Heart", from her 1991 debut release, and the new "In Another`s Eyes". Both emotion-filled ballads, but the passionate "In Another`s Eyes" showcases the maturity in their material and voices. "Perfect Love", the other new cut, is also great -- partially because you rarely hear Trisha sing upbeat music! My favorite Trisha cuts -- "Down on My Knees" and "Walkaway Joe" appear here. Trisha Yearwood is one of the finest interpretive singers ever -- in any genre. She should have tacked "Volume I" onto the title of this release -- even if shenever released another album, she`s got plenty of material for additional volumes.
