Comments for Boy George, Sold

E-MAIL: jcline@kennesaw.edu
This is a really good pop album. Though many fan attack it nowadays, there are many treasures to be found, including Freedom and Where Are You Now.
"Sold" followed Coal miner`s strikes andother unrest in England."Everything I own" was a hit single popular all over Europe."Freedom" is a forgotten great - a stong, passionate song everyone can relate to."Next Time" is an uptempo shot at allthe critics who never understood him.It defends the way George is by lampooniga number of worse alteranatives. It alsohas a number of historic tie-ins: it did a name-match "This Time", a Culture Club `best of` album. it contained a reference to his washing machine, which came up later in the song "Kipsy" and in his autobiogaphy "Take it like a man". it contained a referece to the painter Van Goeh, later mentioned again in the song "Satan`s Butterfly Ball". Van Goeh is famous for cutting off his ear for love, and George discribes cutting his wrists over a boyfriend in his autobiography."To be reborn" is probably George`s most beautiful work. It is the final love song/farewell to Culture Club`s drummer, Jon Moss
