This is their best album & the only one really worth buying. Tracks 1, 3, 4, 8, 11, 13, & 15 are the standouts. "Star Collector" is the only good song Davy ever sang lead vocals on. "Door Into Summer" is their best song. "Salesman" is great even though it imitates George Harrison''s "Taxman." "What Am I Doing Hangin Round" is a great bluegrassy folksy Byrds type song. "Daily Nightly," and "Love Is Only Sleeping" are 1st rate psychedelia. Unfortunatly, by law, every Monkees album has to contain bubblegum crap for the 8 year old girls to sigh over. In this case, the toiletbowl songs are "Cuddly Toy," and "Hard To Believe" They destroy this album from being perfect. If they would ever have kicked Davy out of the group, the could have been taken seriously as a great band. Oh well, Bob Dylan could never have had a successful TV show.
originally released in November 1967, this is a reissue albumby Rhino Records containing seven new songs at the end of the album.
