Comments for London, Julie, All Through the NightJulie`s sultry vocals are used to their potential on this fine collection of Cole Porter classics. The Bus Shank Quintet keeps things swinging on "Under My Skin" and "You Do Something to Me," while the balladry of "At Long Last Love" and "Every Time We Say Goodbye" (the latter being the disc`s best cut) exemplifies classic jazz performances. The Bossa Nova arrangements of "Get Out of Town" and "So in Love" are other highlights. This is one of Julie`s later albums, and it shows she never lost her innate good taste for material, tasteful intuition for performance, or the kind of voice that made you want to dim the lights and hold someone close. "All Through the Night" survives as Julie`s finest album.Comments supplied by users do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Roadkill Consulting, Inc. |
