Comments for Spirit, Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus

Spirit was Randy California (vocals and guitar), Ed Cassidy(drums), Jay Ferguson [yeah, "Thunder Island"] (vocals and percussion), Mark Andes(bass and vocals), and John Locke(keyboards). Best known perhaps for their mega hit "I Got ALine On You," Spirit was an extraordinarily creativeband, and this album is their "Abbey Road," their "PetSounds," their "Dear Mr. Fantasy." Songs with an * are bonus tracks on the CD re-issue, which was digitally mastered with Sony`s Super Bit Mapping. Excellent sound, wonderful, hook-filled songs - give it a listen, and you`ll be hooked! Jay Ferguson and Mark Andes went on to formJo Jo Gunne ("Run"), and Jay went on to a really underratedsolo career (if you can find it, listen to the LP "All Alonein the End Zone") and traded guest appearances with JoeWalsh.

Top notch album, good vocals, rock but also weird and spacey.

Yes this album is a masterpiece - but whether it's Spirit's best album, I'm not so sure, as each of their previous 3 albums are also classics! What is certain is that this album could as easily have been titled Spirit's Greatest Hits - every song is that good!
