Comments for Big Boss Groove, Live In America!

E-MAIL: cubancowboy@webtv.net
Viewed by many historians as the album that started the "Big Boss Groove" sound that became synonymous with South Florida, this double live album has been out of print virtually since the day it was released! Only two copies are known to still exist and the master tapes are reportedly in the posession of a die-hard fan who refuses to release their wherabouts. This brilliant album showcases BBG in their absolute prime. This was the lineup that consisted of luminaries like KC Cochran,Lord Christopher,Yank Webb and of course Tito who is featured on all of side 3 with his funky solo, rap, etc. All of the above members went on to successful solo careers but all agree that "Live In America!" was their finest hour. Recorded at the Fort Homer Hesterly Armory in Tampa, Florida in a bill that included support acts like James Brown,Mongo Santamaria,Lee Scratch Perry,Joe Cuba and Celia Cruz all of whom admit to being greatly inspired and influenced by the Big Boss Groove sound. A true gem of a record! (But good luck finding a copy!)
