Comments for Sainte-Marie, Buffy, Up Where We Belong

Buffy is brilliant again with another diverse album in 1996. Most of these songs are re-recordings of classic tunes she did or wrote, many protest and political folk songs like the classic "Universal Soldier" and "Now That The Buffalo`s Gone" (both originally from 1964), beautiful love songs like "Goodnight" (from 1992), etc. She includes also the first recording she`s done of "Up Where We Belong", the song that was #1 in 1982 (she co-wrote it) for Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes. She also records her most successful song, "Until It`s Time For You To Go", one of the most recorded pop songs ever (it`s been done by Elvis, Barbra Streisand, Bobby Darin, many more), and the title song to the 1971 movie SOLDIER BLUE. Many from the 1960s and 1970s and three from 1992, as well as two new songs: "Dance Me Around", and the best song on the album, the native pow-wow/pop crossover "Darling Don`t Cry", a perfect and powerful love song that needed much more recognition.
