Comments for Edward Bear, The Edward Bear Collection

A good look at pop/rock in the early 1970s. This `group`, headed by lead vocalist/drummer Larry Evoy (the only member who was in the group for their whole time) IS Edward Bear. They have their first hit "You Me And Mexico" from 1969 and continues to Ed`s last record the lovely ballad "God Bless Now" (the highlight of the album to me) in 1984, and also has four unreleased tracks. The biggest Ed Bear hit was "Last Song" in 1972 which was #1 almost everywhere and would be THE song anybody would remember about Edward Bear (if HE or THEY are remembered at all). They were bigger in Canada. Larry wrote most of the songs and he`s a great artist and singer. The song "Freedom For The Stallion" is great and rockin` and "Fly Across The Sea" is thoughtful. It ends with the 1970 hit "You Can`t Deny It", a rebelious rocking great tune. Edward was not appreciated as much as he should have been.
