Comments for Scenic, Acquatica

I chose "rock" for the style of this music because I had tochoose something, but this ain`t your normal rock. This is totally subjective, mind you, but this could be the soundtrack for a post-apocalyptic landscape; not the destruction, just the aftermath. Yet another hefty slab of satisfying music almost impossible to categorize. Wisps of Ummagumma-era Pink Floyd waft through a lot of this; out of nowhere, odd instruments make their presence known (including, if the liner notes are to be believed, slinky). Very guitar driven most of the time; often ambient (especially the "hidden" track at the end); always mesmerizing. If this was the only music to survive the end of the world as we know it, things could definitely be worse. One gripe: it comes in a pretty hand-letterpressed "discfolio" using a DigiPak tray but, no matter how you gussy it up, DigiPak sucks as a practical CD storage medium.
