Colosseum were the third major branch of defectors from John Mayall`s Bluesbreakers, the first being Eric Clapton who formed Cream and John McVie and Peter Green who formed Fleetwood Mac. Colosseum was founded by bassist Tony Reeves, saxophonist Dick Heckstall-Smith and drummer John Hiseman.Starting off playing "progressive jazz/blues", notably The Valentyne Suite, Live! is a rock testament of virtuoso playing, each musician getting his chance at extended solos to show who can outdo the other. Go ahead and shoot me, but I think this is the best live album of all time.
