Comments for The Lilac Time, & Love For All

Lead singer Stephen Duffy took his wistful sad pills beforemaking this album. Paradise Circus` celebration of life is quite muted here. Happily, however, "& Love For All" won`t leave you feeling morose or depressed. LT`s seductive pop melodies,combined with Andy Partridge`s (of XTC) production, make for a very pleasing listen. The title tune is one of the LT`s bestsongs, and "The Laundry" works despite its potentially cornymetaphor ("Nobody grows old, we just crease and fold, like thelaundry..."). "Paper Boat", "And On We Go", "I Went To The Dance",and "It`ll End In Tears" set the overall mood, with their sereneresignation to the passage of time and the sad unavoidables life throws us every now andthen.
