Comments for Nebel, Steve & Kristi, Taking Off

Material for this "concept album" about Alaska was written during the years Steve and Kristi spent touring the state. Steve`s self-penned tunes feature perceptive lyrics which are peopled with fisherman, truck drivers, prospectors and homesteaders. "Fisherman Hardly Ever Sleeps" (about the danger and mystery of seafaring) is as haunting in theme as it is in melody. Other favorites: the classically styled country tune, "Telegraph Creek"; and "Change," a story song about a backwoods marriage languishing in the isolation of a sleepy little northern town. If you`ve ever wanted to visit Alaska, this evocative little collection will take you there, if only for an hour.
