Comments for Duke Jupiter, Band In Blue

E-MAIL: SScozzari@aol.com
This album was actually released titled "I" or "Duke Jupiter I". the data on this screen misinforms as titled "Band in Blue". "Band In Blue" was a previous release on Mercury, with the second inversion of the band featuring Marshall Styler, Greg Walker, George Barajas, Don Maracle, and Dave Hanlon. This album came after the self marketed "Begin Again" EP on Powerglide, and was recorded during the time of bassist George Barajas'' demise due to an illness, which evetually caused his death. Rickey Ellis replaced Barajas, and it is uncertain which tracks contain George or Rickey. Additionally, George sang background vocals, while Rickey did not. Single versions on Coast to Coast include an alternate take of "Begin Again" on the b-side of "I''ll Drink to You" and shortened version of "Rock and Roll Band" on the single. Incidentally, an alternate, almost demo take of "Rock and Roll Band" (still shorter than the two Coast to Coast versions) appears on the EP "Begin Again". Some versions of the LP''s jacket and label don the logo "Roadshow", while some do not. The album on Coast to Coast, was produced by Glen Kolotkin, who produced "Taste the Night" on Mercury, and later "White Knuckle Ride" on Morocco. Kolotkin can be found producing the Greg Kihn Band. In Kolotkin''s absense, between "Taste the Night" and "I", Steve Katz produced "Band in Blue" (Steve Katz formerly of Blood Sweat and Tears?--someone please confirm). The album "I" was released in Canada on Epic Records. also see comments under "I" Sam Scozzari, former house DJ at Red Creek Inn, Rochester NY 1983-1986 Suffield CT
