Comments for Radiohead, Kid A

Extremely disappointed. I am a huge Radiohead fan and have all of their albums (apart from an import or two) and even an interview CD. However, I think that Kid A is a real let down. Maybe it will grow on me but there was not one number that jumped out at me saying 'Listen to me, I am an excellent song'. It is definately no 'The Bends' or 'OK Computer'. Hopefully their next album will be great again, however, I will make sure I listen to it first instead of buying on reputation.
There was a reason why they made this cd so odd.
The experts were saying how great of a band they were and how they are the best band of all times. I think they got tired of how the press and experts were going on and on about it. And so they made an album which was very odd.I'm sure those the next album won't be near as odd.

You really weren't expecting another OK Computer or The Bends, I hope? Anyone who has spent any time studying radiohead's previous steps should have known that once again they would make something completely different. This is an amazing album, for me it is on a par with OK Computer. Radiohead should be rewarded for doing taking the hard route and not make OK Computer part 2, it's a shame they got so much negative criticism for their bold step. If you want the 'old' Radiohead go listen to Travis, Muse or Coldplay, Radiohead themselves left that sound behind a long time ago. Maybe not all of the songs are strong on their own, but the full sonic experience is really mindblowing. Also, the best songs on this album are just as good as anything they've done before. Tracks like The National Anthem and Idioteque are truly amazing. One thing I really like about this album is the way all those electronic sounds somehow sound quite organic. Just listen to the emotion in the title track! I really wonder where they will go after amnesiac, all I know is that yet again it will be something completely different.
Hmm, don't think so.
Clever. Very clever. Not the album, but the band. So publicly against their own fame, yet so happy to accept the limelight and accolades that come with the critical acclaim that their pretentiousness attracts from the trend led press. They know only too well that to continue on the popular path is a short-term career. They also know that to take a different musical direction is dangerous. However, they also know that the music press has a perpetual need to stay one step ahead of the latest fad and trend, as well as a need to appear musically intellectual. Voila! Kid A! An album so conceptual that to dismiss it critically would be to either smack of ignorance or risk admitting a lack of understanding. It can't be panned. It appears brave. The band name is still trendy. Watch the cash(and further acclaim) flood in. Well done.
