Comments for Can, Out Of Reach

I don''t hear this in any socio-political context as does the previous reviewer. What I hear is just a tired album made by a band running low on material. Some of the album is REALLY BAD - ridiculously so. There is some nice, jazz-like flowing music on here - Can music. But the better themes were used again elewhere as the band regarded this LP as kind of an embarassment. Summary - a decent pickup for a few bucks but by no means an indispensible record.
Baader-Meinhof terrorists managed to impose a grip of fear and frustration inWest Germany during the fall of 1977 when this was recorded. Their bleakestalbum, dense banks of fog seem to hang over the music evoking the bleakest Novembermood imaginable. Sound is no good, CD appears to have been mastered from a vinyl LP,you can hear the cracks.

This album is bloody awful and the wretched vinyl transfer does not help matter any (sounds as if a cheap turntable or cartridge was used). This album is an embarrassment to Can's reputation and understand completely why they did not re-release it themselves. Only for completists and the very curious.
