Mariah Carey Daydream ck66700 This is her best album since her debut release. Fantasy is a truly great song. Mariah has redeemed herself in the eyes of critics around the nation.

M. Carey SUCKS!!!Her album,daydream or whatever it's called is really bad.She sounds like a total cow HA HA.The song with Boys 2 Men also makes me wanna puke.By the way I hate Boys 2 Men too.I can't believe she won three awards at the American Music Awards.I think Alanis Morisette should have got them because Alanis is way better than Mariah.Mariah is so ugly and should get music lessons because she can't sing.Don't get me wrong,I'm not jealous of her or anything like that.I mean I use to be friends with Mariah, I was her high school friend But then all she could talk about was how big she was going to get in her singing career.She thought she was better than everyone and stuff.So all I'm saying is that she's selfish and always thinks about herself.Well one day Mariah, I know I'll be just as big as you in my music career!Just you wait.

Mariah Carey's album Daydream definately has some of her best work to date. She is definately one of the top female artists this decade. Keep it up.

I must say that I was really disappointed listening to this album. I say it wasn't as good as Mariah's other albums that she's put out. I just couldn't get any satisfaction listening to it.So it's a thumbs down for me.

For all the people that wrote bad things about Mariah and her music, that is so totally immature. If you don't like it, keep it to yourself. This is a really well rounded album, and although I'm not a real fan, I really liked a few of the songs. Mariah definately has talent. With talent like that, how could you not think of yourself sometimes??? and to the person who said he'd be bigger and better than her, it takes dedication, and heart to make it in the industry, and if you're so immature as to write things like that on this page, then you'd better do some attitude adjustment before you try. I'm in school, and young, and I sometimes talk about how I want to be a star when I grow up, and that's not arrogant, that's just the truth. I do want it. To all of those with dreams, and to Mariah, keep dreaming, and keep singing.

After her great work on "Music Box," this album is a tremendous disappointment. Mariah's voice lacks the soul it had in earlier years, the songs are unimaginative and full of trite hooks and cliches, and altogether the material does not hold together strongly enough to be thought of as an album. Musically, this is her poorest work yet. I thought that "Music Box" was a glimmer of hope after "Emotions," which was a disappointment after her stellar debut. But this one takes the cake. "Daydream" is bland as hell.

This section is called "Reviews", Xander, not "Mariah Carey Ego Stroking". I hate to burst your bubble, kid, but reviews are sometimes negative--that's a plain fact of life. And the fact that so many of the reviews of this album are negative ought to tell you something. Mariah Carey's songs are vapid, and she's about as exciting as mayo on untoasted white bread--that's not being immature, kid, that's stating an opinion. As for her popularity now, when was the last time Cyndi Lauper had a hit? Or Kim Carnes? Or most of the solo female acts from the '80s? The only ones I can think of who've spanned both decades are Whitney Houston, Madonna, and Janet Jackson, and Mariah Carey, aside from the vocal gymnastics she displayed on her first few singles, has de- monstrated neither the depth nor the marketing to be in that class. She's got another four years, tops, especially if she keeps putting out material as poor as this.

I just don't see what's the big deal with Mariah Carey. Her voice is annoying , she looks trashy, she has no grace and she's out of date. She will never become an American legend like true diva Madonna. She...sucks ! By the way, did you see how pissed off she was at the 1996 Grammys ? The girl has no class !

Yes i would like to point out that Mariah is not " all that". I mean must she dress in these trashy clothes in her music videos? What kind of message is she sending out to all those teenage girls out there? Yeah dress like me, be as skinny as me... and any guy you like will sleep with you. That is pathetic!! She herself thinks she's probably all that- But sorry missy i'm afraid not! Dress in slutty clothes and get a lot of money- yeah i think you should consider another profession than sing Marey, maybe a call- girl would have been better!

It's true, negative reviews are a fact of life. However it seems like the biggest stars get most of the negative reviews and just really nasty comments: ie. Michael Jackson, Céline Dion, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Michael Bolton, as just a few examples. Their music has achieved such widespread popularity that it has been exposed to more opinions. Those who write nasty reviews like the one above who said "daydream or whatever it's called" never bought the album or really listened, they heard the singles on the radio and since these singles didn't fit their ideas of what is the "good" standard, or maybe perhaps because they got a hell of a lot of airplay (which the songs "Fantasy", "Always Be My Baby" and "One Sweet Day" certainly did), they will get so fet up with the hype and really turn their opinions to hate. It's not really fair to be judged that way, but it really is the name of the game in show business. For example, the hype around Michael Jackson turned to utter disgust especially when the whole molestation case came about and totally demolished Mr. Jackson's credability, even though many of the new tracks on HiSTORY and BLOOD ON THE DANCEFLOOR were brilliant, especially "Scream" with Janet Jackson. Mariah Carey may fall into this, although there aren't really any signs of it yet. As for DAYDREAM, the album certainly shows development from her previous works and the fact that Ms. Carey is someone who believes in intricate quality. One mustn't forget that Ms. Carey, unlike most other of the "divas" class, writes her own songs or at least most of them. Many of the songs on DAYDREAM are classics, however the reason many will rip apart Ms. Carey is that she's not at all a "confessional" songwriter in the ranks of Sarah McLaughlan or Alanis Morissette. The truth is, the movement of female singer/songwriters such as Ms. Morissette, Ms. McLaughlan, Paula Cole, Meredith Brooks, Natalie Imbruglia, Holly McNarland, Alana Davis and many others seems to be all the way against the "divas" who include dynamite vocalists Ms. Carey, Céline Dion, Whitney Houston and others, who really have shown sometimes they favour style over substance. Ms. Carey has an extraordinary, range-stretching voice, which is smooth and comfortable as well as forceful. However, sometimes it is that same amazing voice that keeps her from reaching into the hearts of the so-called "serious" singers crowd of Ms. Cole and Ms. Morissette, who happen to possess inferior sometimes limited voices. Perhaps Ms. Carey should hold off on some of the over-done vocal gymnastics à la gospel belter (as in a version of Journey's "Open Arms" which is in fact inferior to the original) and write songs which show more development and more confession, and then possibly she will get over the hump of being labeled simply a bombastic "diva" or "clean-cut pop princess". I think certainly BUTTERFLY, her 1997 follow-up album, was a good move, as it was a gritty glide into urban R&B with such cuts as "Honey".

What "goodmorning" wrote is a bunch of bullshit, I don't agree beause it's all talk and people don't understand that what Mariah puts out is not true music.

When she first started out, they made her wear neck to ankle clothing. She is young and beautiful, if she wants to show off her body then she should be able too. I mean hey, she looks hot, so why the hell not? and you guys who call her fat and ugly and untalented...you are just upset because you are probably fat and ugly and untalented yourselves and you know you could never GET a girl like Mariah. And you girls who insult her, you are obviously insanely envious and jealous. Remember...people who put down other people do it to boost their own self esteem. I love you Mariah, you have been an inspiration to so many people through your words, and your songs. Look, as someone said previously, this is a REVIEW BOARD! The whole idea is that people get to express their views on the artist of their choice. If you or anyone else can't bear to hear the glaringly obvious truth about 'Marvellous' Mariah (i.e. that she's a cheap, warbling, self obsessed peice of manufactured trash) then go to one of the many Mariah-praising websites that are created especially for the tasteless and delusional.

MARIAH IS UGLY AND SHE CAN'T SING!

As a artist, I can say that she is alright. She goes have a nice voice and her songs are great for the "broken-hearted teenager girl" who dreams of becoming her one day. But what I don't get is why a people like her (along with Brittany Spears, Christina Aguilera, Mandy Moore and other singing sensations) must "alter" their bodies to appear more beautiful. This is actually a growing epedemic in America! More and more teenager girls think the only way they can apprear beautiful is if they are 100 pounds and have bodies exactly like Barbie. As a result this leads to detremental health problems and infertility. 65% of American teenage girls are anemic! SO I blame individuals like Mariah for sending wrong messages through her music videos. Females think they must have enormous bust sizes to be accepted by their male counterparts and go to extreme lengths to satisfy their needs. As a doctor, I think this is really difficult to set into a female's mind. I blame all these females of the ninties and 2000's for sending the wrong and unhealthy signals to all our women.
