Comments for Raitt, Bonnie, Fundamental

After 3 hugely successful albums with producer Don Was, Bonnie probably thought she need a change, so for FUNDAMENTAL, she enlisted the production duo of Mitchell Froom & Tchad Blake. Froom & Blake are often criticized for giving artists a slicker sound than they're noted for, but surprisingly FUNDAMENTAL is actually one of Bonnie's most underproduced albums in years, almost reminiscent of her '70s work. In fact, the album was said to have been recorded in less than a month. Unlike her albums with Don Was, FUNDAMENTAL was not the blockbuster of the three previous & even now it hasn't received a fair share of attention. But as of right now (October 2001), it's Bonnie's last album to date. She once said that turning 50 causes some artists to become more interesting & daring. So here's hoping she can wow us again with another great album like FUNDAMENTAL, only receiving more press than its predecessor.
