Comments for Reed, Lou, Metal Machine Musicnoiseman433@blademail.net Lou Reed's tour de force Metal Machine Music, though while seemingly 'unlistenable' is quite accessible. One hears many of the techniques and sounds of the musical environment within Reed was immersed during the late 60s and early 70s. The work itself is very similar in texture to some of Terry Riley's works from the period (which is no big surprise as Riley wa a frequent collaborator with La Monte Young--with whom John Cale and Angus MacLise were working--hence the connection and intermingling of influences). To rock musicians at the time it may have seemed 'out there', but when listened to within a broader musical-historical context it is rather tame (even for that period) and actually quite beautiful. thisis the best rock'n'roll album I ever heard, uauuuu Lou reed really gets that rockin' feeling I've been searchin' for so long and, the most important thing, Lou reed as a writer, this album containes the best of his lirycal production, in fact this is poetry. I'm agree with this new york city manComments supplied by users do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Roadkill Consulting, Inc. |
