Comments for Carpenters, The, Offering-Ticket To Ride

This album was the Carpenters first. The songs "Someday" and "Eve" show the dark side of Karen's voice. Having recorded these at the age of 19, her readings show remarkable understanding. Truly outstanding performances!!

Is the album bearing the name 'Offering' a collectors item? I assume the track list is identical to Ticket to Ride, but I know that the album sleeve design is different. Can these ever be obtained from collectors stores? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks Ralph Montagu

This album, the first to be cut by Karen and Richard, is very different than most of their others. It is raw, pure, and simple, but still has the trademark Carpenters harmonies. ''Ticket to Ride'' is the original version and not quite as professional a performance as ''Ticket to Ride'' rerecorded in 1973 for the SINGLES album. ''Someday'' was rerecorded in 1980 for their TV Special ''Music, Music, Music.'' (by Karen''s request..she wasn''t happy with the original performance). "All of My Life" is my favorite cut on here. At age 19, Karen''s voice was very rich, deep, and innocent.
This album has two titles because it was originally released as "Offering". Due to a lack of sales and chart position it was repackaged as "Ticket To Ride", also the single from the album.
