Comments for Cheap Trick, In Color

I can't believe no one else has anything to say about this LP. Yes their first album has energy to spare, but this album is where they perfected their songwriting. These are some of the best written songs they ever wrote -perhaps if it had more of a raw feel like that first one.. but hey I like the production myself. This to me is their masterpiece, followed closely by Heaven Tonight & Cheap Trick-MVT

I have to agree on "In Color"; though I don't think it's their best overall ("Heaven Tonight" gets that honor), and the production lacks punch, this is their most consistent collection of pure pop songs. "Oh, Caroline" is a masterpiece. The lack of interest in/knowledge about this album among internet types disturbs me! JayD

"Downed" is spectacular. So are "Southern Girls", "Oh Caroline", "So Good to See You". But IWYTWM is mediocre with the piano, and I'm tired of Hello There...

Cheap Trick's BEST studio album. This IS Cheap Trick. Wonderful original version of "I Want You To Want Me". (Although I still love the live version too) "Southern Girls" and "Come On, Come On" are my favorite, yet I love every song.

BY FAR, this is Cheap Trick's best studio album. Pure rock enjoyment. If they could only record a new album of this magnatude.

When I saw them two years ago, they performed "Southern Girls" on one of the encores. The guys have not skipped a beat. I only wish they would come to Texas more often.

My second CT purchase, after Heaven Tonight, is the best power-pop album ever made. In slightly over 30 minutes, CT delivers fat, mindbaswhing WHO-ish powerchords, great melodic Beatle-hooks and ten great songs. My favourites include I Want You To Want Me, Come on Come on, Soi Good To See You and Downed. Actually, the studio version of IWYTWM is far superior to the better-known Budokan version. A classic.
